I partnered with the founder to updating the studio's brand identity and website design. We worked together for several months to bring a more authentic, holistic vision of the company to life.

We found inspiration in deep earthy colors, abstract art, and building materials used in different cultures throughout time.

After exploring several visual directions we settled on a simple, classic set of brand marks to suit digital and print applications. Since the brand marks stayed so minimal we were able to create an extended color palette to give the brand a unique, materials-inspired feel.

I developed the studio's brand identity, custom illustrations and website design. We're working together to create a unique, meaningful visual identity for this rising star studio.

Launching the studio is an exciting next step in the career of filmmaker Eric Gonzalez. After independently refining his visual style for the past 8 years Boléro is building a team of storytellers. He wanted the brand to feel personal, with a name inspired by his love of the symphony, and visuals embodying his family's Mexican heritage.

After an initial call with the client, I provided three mood boards and brand storylines to help clarify the visual direction.

Tame-r Impala
Authentic. Carnal. Analog.

Alcohol, cannabis, summer heat, dreamy electronic beats pulse. Both dull and sharpen our senses. As animals who cling to control, the most natural thing we do is release and re- connect. We document humans as the warm, messy, beautiful creatures we are. Filter not needed.

Thoughtful. Classic. Anticipatory.

Effective storytelling begins with listening. Accomodating a pause, allowing for silence. Patiently waiting for something to happen. Don’t mistake this for minimalism, instead recognize the generous act of bearing witness to the story being told. Perhaps for the first time. Perhaps for the only time.

La Michoacana

Summer road trips as a child, our first beach vacation or sliced orange slices after school. We tend to remember things as better than they were. Using a transitional serif type to create a bold wordmark sets the scene for a story we remember fondly. Connecting the audience emotionally with each and every story told by Boléro Studios.

The client's favorite direction La Michoacana evolved into a set of simple brand marks that have a clear personal connection with the founder.

The tropical pattern shows a more playful side of the brand.

A minimally branded and editorial style proposal template helps the imagery and ideas remain the focus.

Boléro Studios plans to launch in the Fall of 2020 across Western Canada and the United States.

Two Hands is an Australian startup developing a blockchain-enabled digital protein marketplace. They want to increase transparency around the produce supply chain and restore human connections in the food industry.
